Punx In the Webz FUCK 2020
I was going to blog more leading up to Punx in the Woods 14.5, but then I got so busy it became impossible, and no one was visiting this page anyway because I couldn't figure out how to SEO my way into searchability. Below are the links to all three days of punk as hell submissions and live performances, but first, a message from Becka Brisbin (Zebrana Bastard), PiTW Founder. "Remember that anybody, any one of you, is capable of doing anything. Just throw your heart into it and create the fun you want to see in the world." Friday Show nsfw imMature content warning. The intro porch segment was filmed last minute. I clipped a camera to a plastic shelf frame that had been left in the yard behind this random house, and though I brought my external mic, I forgot my windsock, and we battled the sun setting. It is what it is! DIY punk, and I'm learning as I go. There was a march later too, and the sun was setting, so we were in a hurry. This video is queued to the opening animation (not mine), goes into the intro, introduces the merch, and we goof off for a while. Then the music starts. Does anyone have an official count of how many acts are in this video? I mean, damn. Sure it's an anarchist punk community event, but there's rap and hardcore and folk music and scantily clad bodies too. Seriously, keep watching, or randomly skip ahead. You have no idea what random stuff you might see. Saturday Show

Facebook Vlog stuff There is a lot of video to go through from this summer. I have footage at the Bomb Shelter when we were screen printing hoodies and patches to sell, and I have behind the scenes footage from inside the Chuck on August 30th, when PITW crew was recording bands for Friday's video that couldn't fit in Saturday and Sunday's shows. CJ and I got called to action on emergency basis because everyone had left Tacoma to film and forgot a lighting kit in town. It was the first time I'd ever been to the Charleston. Outside of PITW I've also been working with Kvlt Mead's Jen Otis and Brian Sprouse, shooting documentary style footage of their black metal meadery in the Tacoma Dome District, during a global pandemic that's closing businesses like Real Art Tacoma and The Charleston. Their ability to retail bottles and fill growlers on top of delivering alcohol around the PNW, In the past month alone, the South Sound has lost both the 9,000 sq ft all ages venue Louie G's Pizza in Fife, and The Swiss in Tacoma, to COVID social distancing health restrictions requiring the owners of both establishments to sell, and both sales fell through. COVID-era Grit City Updates NEWSFLASH Kvlt Mead will be moving to a new, larger location near The Plaid Pig in Tacoma later this fall. Enjoy what's left of the sunny weather now that the wildfire smoke has dissipated enough to leave the house, should you be so fortunately healthy during this surreal af global health crisis, by heading to the Tacoma Dome District in the afternoon. Grab a new read at the independent book store The Tacoma Book Center on the corner of E 26th & E D St Try a sample flight of the unique, PNW-centric honey wine brewed inside Kvlt Mead and take your drinks out to a table in the on-street bar seating area currently allotted for social distanced serving per WA state COVID restrictions. Take home a growler of your favorite or collect the bottles. I strip the labels off mine and stick them on the wall in my dining room, because Kvlt Mead's bottle label art is done by illustrators from the Pacific Northwest and the honey they use is made by local bees. I even helped pick the hops for their freshly kegged IPA style mead at Molly's Hops just south of Tacoma! Order a cup of collard greens & a side of hot links from Chef Pajama Mama next door while you drink and dine al fresco in the shade. They're my favorite greens in Pierce County. If you order ahead and arrive before 4, you can even snag seasonally decorated sweets at the pretty purple Celebrity Cake Studio, located right in the middle of it all!
